About

As a printmaker, I am using my knowledge of various processes to explore the ambiguity of language. My interest is rooted in the idea that something humans rely on to operate in society is often manipulated in delivery and biased in interpretation. Building from the idea that mathematics is a reliable and neutral means of communication, I create environments that are representative of the constructs of language. I choose to express my ideas through the use of geometry because I believe these forms function as symbols that contain less bias than imagery pulled from the natural world. Thus, the forms have the ability to communicate across a number of demographics. These spaces demonstrate a balance between a manufactured setting and obscured dimensions that rely on the viewer to complete the work: artist and viewer interacting to bring a piece to completion—a conversation.
